"The inside of the Thermal II Head is like a work of art. It is a real shame that we do not allow anyone to see it."
Dan Gelbart, founder and president of Creo Products (now Kodak).
This product is water cooled, with coolant serving both the laser thermo-electrics and the onboard PCB boards. The device is about the size of an apple box and is so densely packaged that it has nearly the density of aluminium.
Servos include autofocus, beam power, beam steering, pixel density calibration, and laser temperature.
Thousands have been built and the head is used on many of Kodak's output devices. I spearheaded the development of this product from early research through to production release.
